The Flyer: zine issues as the neighborhood's front page
In North Oakland, a print zine on poles and porches carries community food resources, a park discussion, back-to-school support, and local music, with the deliberative layer arriving inside something neighbors already want to pick up.
Place: North Oakland, California. Builder: Humphrey Obuobi (LETS Studio, Metagov).
Recent issues carried community food resources, a park discussion, back-to-school support, and local music. Behind the QR codes sit localized Pol.is conversations, so the physical, place-based hubs link to online, interactive spaces, and back again: the next issue carries what the neighborhood heard.
The pattern a neighborhood can borrow: put the question inside something people already pick up. The flyer is the distribution system; the conversation is what it points at; the newsletter is the return path.
