Build: A Third-Places Map for Your Neighborhood

Ushahidi is a global open-source platform for crowdsourced mapping; this build borrows its soul at block scale. Make a map where neighbors pin the third places of one neighborhood — the spots that are neither home nor work where life actually happens: the good stoop, the café that lets you sit, the pickup court, the library steps, the taco truck corner, the community fridge.

Each pin carries a neighbor's words: what happens here, when it's alive, who you'll meet, one story. Submissions are moderated by a named neighbor-steward (the Ushahidi lesson: every good deployment has one). Views: the map itself; a 'alive right now' filter by time of day; and a printable one-pager for the laundromat corkboard — because the neighbors who most need third places may not be on the map's own third place, the internet.

Extra credit: a 'missing places' layer — where neighbors mark the third place that *should* exist ('this vacant lot wants to be a plaza') — which quietly becomes an organizing map: each cluster of wishes is a constituency waiting for a first meeting.

Constraint: map conditions and places, never people — no 'suspicious activity' layers, ever. That road leads somewhere neighborhoods regret.
