The Civic Commons Access to tools for building community where you live

The Builder Spectrum

People come to community building at different stages. Meet builders where they are, not where you wish they were.

Curious

"I wish my neighborhood felt more connected." → Join existing local channels. Don't build yet. Listen.

Experimenting

"I started a group chat / hosted a gathering." → WhatsApp group + shared Google Calendar. Keep it simple.

Building

"I'm setting up systems and recruiting co-builders." → Newsletter + calendar + one action channel. Find co-builders.

Sustaining

"How do I keep this going without burning out?" → Field guide + signals + mutual aid structure. Rotate roles.

Scaling

"How do I share what's working with other neighborhoods?" → Studio platform + cross-neighborhood connections. Document and remix.
