A Relational Tech Practice

Relational tech is a practice with four dimensions:

1. Purpose

Reconnect with people and the place where we live, cultivating healthy relational soil — the conditions in which agency, belonging, and trust can grow.

2. Process: Embedded Design

Spend less time building in isolation and more time in the messiness and beauty of community life. Dreams emerge from accountable relationships, time spent in the world together, and local needs identified through deep listening. The result is small, meaningful software that fits its community.

3. Math: 1:100

Fewer "users," more co-creators. One primary builder to 100 neighbors who rely on and co-create the tools. This reflects the emerging profession of "local relational technologist" — people who practice their craft in service of place.

4. Path: Scale Deep, Spread Horizontal

Scale deep in place and spread horizontally, neighborhood to neighborhood, through remixing rather than replication. Each place carries its own histories, wounds, wisdom, and gifts. Relational technology is crafted locally, through attunement and shared discernment.
